The Crowns, Botallack

Here is a selenium toned monochrome image of The Crowns at Botallack in Cornwall. These abandoned mines are featured in the “Poldark” UK TV series when they are always shown in glorious sunshine with a clear blue sky and not with sea fog or rain! So I thought I would have a Black & White image for a change. I was experimenting with the use of a Lee x6 ‘Little Stopper’ filter rather than more common x10 ‘Big Stopper’ to get a 13 seconds exposure. This produces a more pleasing effect for the sea rather that the milky effect through significantly longer exposures.

_MG_4000-HDRcIt’s been a long time since I posted my last image. I have been very much occupied in helping to set up the new Avon Valley Photography Society and its first International Salon, along with trying to complete my RPS A- Panel.

Hopefully there will be now more time for me to keep this blog up-to date. Just got back from my holidays and the image above is an example of trying out the new Lightroom CC Photo Merge HDR facility. A merge of 3 exposures -2, 0, +2 stops.

I find the auto tone mapping used preferable to other HDR software.
